Security Monitoring and Response Analyst II

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Security Monitoring and Response Analyst II to join its corporate security team. In this role you will help protect digital payment ecosystems by responding to cyber incidents, conducting root‑cause analysis, and improving security processes.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to cybersecurity events and incidents across the organization.
• Support the incident response lifecycle, including debriefs with senior team members and peer teams.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and apply lessons learned to strengthen the security posture.
• Address end‑user queries and security alerts in line with monitoring and response standards.
• Contribute to the development and tuning of security playbooks and detection rules.

Required profile

• Experience in Security Operations, preferably within a SOC environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity disciplines such as network traffic analysis, malware analysis, DLP, vulnerability management, DFIR, web security, threat intelligence, and threat hunting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
• Industry certifications (CISSP, ISACA, GIAC) or willingness to obtain them.

Required skills

• SIEM query and alert creation (preferably SPL).
• Experience with XDR, EDR, and NDR technologies.
• Familiarity with Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) and Indicators of Attack (IoAs).
• Knowledge of ATT&CK framework, tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
• Network traffic analysis, malware analysis, data loss prevention (DLP), vulnerability management, digital forensics and incident response (DFIR), web security, threat intelligence, and threat hunting.
