Security Engineer I – IT Security & Risk

About the role

The Security Engineer I will support Texas A&M University’s Technology Services – IT Security & Risk team in designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions that protect the institution from cyber threats. This onsite position in College Station focuses on building robust security architecture and responding to incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage data, system, and network security architecture.
• Implement new technology deployments, conduct integration testing, and evaluate security products.
• Collaborate with enterprise stakeholders to define specifications for service‑based solutions.
• Enforce, audit, and consult on security policies; monitor data security across platforms.
• Conduct internal investigations of security violations and produce detailed reports.
• Create and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures and technical guides.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of experience in information technology security operations.
• Strong ability to multitask, analyze complex problems, and work cooperatively with others.
• Excellent written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
