Seasonal Golf Course Maintenance Laborer / Greenskeeper

About the role

This seasonal position supports the Golf Course Agronomy Department at The Hills, a Discovery Land Company community in East Quogue, NY. You will work outdoors from May through December, helping maintain the course’s appearance and playability for members and guests.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mowers, string trimmers, and other equipment to trim greens, tees, aprons, and surrounding areas.
• Edge cart paths, rake sand bunkers, set tee markers, maintain ball washers, and replace tee towels and flags.
• Check and refill fuel and fluid levels on all equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
• Return equipment to the maintenance facility and keep work areas clean.
• Mark cart control zones, move barriers, and replace worn ropes or signs.
• Water, fertilize, and spray chemicals on tees, greens, fairways, and landscaped areas under supervision.
• Assist with soil grading, sod laying, seeding, and irrigation system maintenance.
• Operate small utility vehicles such as the John Deere TX Gator as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum three months experience on a golf‑course maintenance or construction crew.
• Valid driver’s license (or international equivalent).
• Ability to operate trucks, golf carts, and light motorized equipment.
• Physical capability to lift, carry, bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, and pull regularly.
• Pass a background check at the employer’s expense.
