Scientist – Biospecimen Shared Resource Pathology

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth is seeking a full‑time Scientist to lead and support translational pathology research within the Biospecimen Shared Resource. The role combines independent research, biospecimen management, and collaboration with clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee research staff, students and collaborators while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
• Plan, execute and analyze experiments on fresh tissue specimens, including intra‑operative procurement.
• Annotate, curate and maintain pathology specimens, clinical, histologic and molecular data in biorepositories.
• Prepare research proposals, grant applications and scientific manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Integrate emerging technologies such as digital pathology, image analysis, AI/ML, spatial biology and molecular profiling into workflows.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in pathology research and molecular pathology.
• Demonstrated expertise in tissue‑based research, biospecimen annotation and clinicopathologic data analysis.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including clinical pathologists and surgeons.
