RN Surgery Resident – Cardiothoracic OR

About the role

The RN Surgery Resident will work in the Cardiothoracic OR at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, providing direct patient care from admission through discharge while participating in a one‑year accredited Nurse Residency program.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum focused on surgical nursing.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and revise patient‑care priorities based on acuity, preference, and resources.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and take corrective action.
• Seek supervision or assistance when needed to ensure safe independent practice.
• Document all care activities accurately in patient medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• New graduate or less than one year of acute direct‑care RN experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
