RN Surgery – Neuro/Spine Operating Room

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Neuro/Spine OR team. This position supports complex brain and spine surgeries, working both day shifts and on-call rotations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in the operating room alongside a success coach.
• Participate in a residency core curriculum focused on surgical learning needs.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity, preference, and resource availability.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and initiate corrective actions.
• Document all patient interactions in the medical record.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• New graduate RN or less than one year of RN experience.

Required skills

• Clinical nursing competence in peri‑operative settings.
• Ability to perform full range of body motions, including patient handling and lifting.
• Proficiency in using state‑of‑the‑art surgical tools and minimally invasive techniques.
