RN Oncology Infusion - PRN

About the role

aoncology is hiring a PRN Registered Nurse for its oncology infusion services. The nurse delivers safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including patient assessment, medication safety, dose verification and drug administration, and follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) for the role.

Key responsibilities

• Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care and non-oncologic agents as ordered by providers, using ONS standards and guidelines.
• Provide triage care when needed and communicate patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team.
• Dispose of biohazardous waste safely in line with OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and the planned treatment course, and document treatments thoroughly, accurately and timely in the EMR.
• Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies and physician offices, and respond within the appropriate timeframe.
• Assist with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, place stock in storage areas and recommend new purchases.
• Complete annual safety and nursing trainings, attend mandatory staff meetings, assist in training new employees and comply with patient privacy and company policies.
• Work at any company location as needed and work overtime when given sufficient notice.

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license.
• Current CPR and BLS certifications and a valid driver's license with a vehicle for travel between clinic locations.
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting.
• Fluency in English and strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to travel less than 25% of the time.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• EMR documentation.
