RN Infusion Nurse - Oncology

About the role

aoncology is hiring an RN Infusion Nurse for its Hematology & Oncology practice in Fredericksburg. The nurse delivers safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and biotherapy, and works within the Oncology Nurse's Society standards and guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, review labs and vital signs, verify doses and administer medications safely and accurately
• Provide triage care when needed and communicate patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team
• Dispose of biohazardous waste correctly per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and the treatment plan, and document care thoroughly in the EMR
• Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, pharmacies and physicians
• Help with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, and complete annual safety and nursing trainings
• Work at any company location as needed and work overtime when given sufficient notice

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license
• Current CPR and BLS certification and a valid driver's license
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
• Fluency in English and strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment

• Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• EMR documentation
• Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule, with occasional overtime and weekend shifts depending on location
