APRN/PA Hospitalist - Hematology & Oncology

About the role

Hematology Oncology Associates of Fredericksburg is expanding and is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) interested in oncology to join its team. The role supports physicians during rounds at Mary Washington Hospital with patients who have new or previously diagnosed hematology and oncology diagnoses, delivering medical oncology and hematology care in collaboration with physicians and other providers. The pay range is $92,500 to $152,875.

Key responsibilities

• Inpatient support: conduct hospital rounds, assist with admissions and discharges, and provide on-call support.
• Assessment: perform and obtain comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and medical histories, order, collect and interpret lab and diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, refer patients and counsel them on treatment plans and psychological conditions.
• Documentation: maintain treatment plan records, initiate consultations and referrals outside the scope of practice, and capture charges in a timely manner.
• Communication: coordinate with admitting and referring teams, triage communications promptly and carry out other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with a Master's degree.
• APRN or PA license in the appropriate state, prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply, and current board certification.
• At least 5 years of experience as an APRN or PA, with oncology experience required.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision, manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment, and work remotely when required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Good command of English; second language is an asset but not required.
