Hematology & Oncology APP

About the role

Hematology & Oncology Associates of Fredericksburg is hiring an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to assist the physician in the care and teaching of patients. The position is paid between $92,500 and $152,875.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health history, physical exam and diagnostic studies.
• Write prescriptions for medications and blood products based on lab results and practice protocols, and interpret study findings.
• Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials and relay patient-care information to the collaborating physician.
• Administer therapeutic measures, obtain specimens, triage patients and document care accurately and on time.
• Dictate follow-up letters, patient history, admission, progress and discharge notes, and take part in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
• Provide on-call coverage, perform hospital rounds, and assist staff in crises or emergencies.
• Promote cancer treatment to the public, train new employees, and comply with patient-privacy laws and company policies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with a Master's degree.
• APRN or PA license in the appropriate state, prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
• Current ANCC or ONS (AOCN-P) certification and current BLS.
• 1 year of APP experience preferred; oncology experience not required.
• Willingness to work at any company location and overtime when given sufficient notice.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
