Risk and Safety Coordinator

About the role

Tarleton State University seeks a Risk and Safety Coordinator to support the university’s risk management, environmental health and safety, emergency management, insurance and compliance programs. This full‑time, on‑site position works closely with the Manager of Risk and Safety and serves as a Campus Security Authority.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety inspections of facilities, laboratories, construction sites and operational areas, identify hazards and document findings.
• Investigate workplace injuries, accidents, property damage and near‑miss incidents, prepare reports and track corrective actions.
• Coordinate and administer safety, emergency preparedness and compliance training programs, schedule sessions and maintain training records.
• Maintain safety records, inspection reports, hazard assessments and compliance documentation, supporting audit preparation and reporting.
• Review certificates of insurance, assist with processing premiums, claims and risk transfer requirements, and support risk management for contracts and events.
• Assist with emergency preparedness activities, drills, response coordination and maintain related records and business continuity materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Emergency Management, Human Resources or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in administration, program management, risk and compliance or a related area.

What we offer

• Target base salary range $44,000 – $55,550 per year, commensurate with experience.
