Right of Way Foreman – Public Works (Full-Time)

About the role

The Public Works Right of Way Foreman leads a crew in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of storm drainage systems and right‑of‑way signage for the City. This full‑time position ensures that all storm drain inlets, manholes, and related infrastructure remain functional and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise crews performing pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole cleaning, and storm sewer pipe repair.
• Conduct bi‑weekly inspections of pedestrian crossing equipment, maintain log books, order parts, and perform required repairs.
• Schedule and oversee annual preventative storm‑drain cleaning, documenting work with sketches and reports.
• Operate power construction equipment, front‑end loaders, and tractors for street and drainage projects.
• Perform minor electrical work on signaling equipment and replace inlet grates, manholes, valley gutters, and outfalls.
• Coordinate with the Public Works Inspector, homeowners, and businesses to resolve drainage issues.
• Provide daily updates to the Assistant Public Works Director and Public Works Director.
• Supervise contractors and report unpermitted construction activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising crews in public‑works construction or maintenance.
• Ability to perform regular inspections, maintain accurate logs, and generate reports.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with city officials, contractors, and the public.
• Commitment to safety standards and completion of required annual training on pedestrian signaling equipment.
