RF & Communications Engineer (Junior/Senior)

About the role

PEMCCO is looking for a motivated RF & Communications Engineer to support a major metropolitan transit agency’s spectrum transition from 900 MHz to 800 MHz. The role involves evaluating system performance, troubleshooting RF issues, and contributing to the modernization of mission‑critical communications infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate RF system performance across existing 900 MHz and target 800 MHz bands.
• Analyze interference, coverage, propagation, capacity and other performance issues.
• Support spectrum monitoring, field testing, and system validation activities.
• Assist with engineering assessments related to spectrum re‑banding.
• Review technical documentation, system configurations and engineering submittals.
• Participate in field inspections, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Document findings, technical observations and project status updates.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, infrastructure and project stakeholders.
• Support integration of communications systems such as DAS, backhaul and OCC.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
• Experience in RF engineering, land mobile radio (LMR), P25 or other mission‑critical communications systems.
• Ability to work on large‑scale infrastructure projects supporting public transportation.
