Broadcast Engineering Support Technician

About the role

iHeartMedia, the largest audio company in America, is hiring a Broadcast Engineering Support Technician in Burbank, California. The role covers the design, configuration, deployment and maintenance of electronic equipment for broadcast performance, with 24/7 on-call availability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure, deploy and maintain electronic equipment for optimal transmission and broadcast performance
• Help clients, technicians and service personnel install, train on and support software, hardware and peripherals such as file servers, workstations, switches, NICs, monitors, KVMs and radio equipment
• Test faulty components and circuits and use test tools to diagnose malfunctions
• Carry out planned maintenance, installs and upgrades as preventative measures
• Align, adjust and calibrate RF transmission equipment per manufacturer specs and FCC regulations
• Maintain mission-critical data and audio file storage and backups, and the audio automation system
• Keep repair, calibration and test records, recommend capital improvements and transmitter site changes, and occasionally work after hours
• Provide 24/7 on-call response to studio and transmission issues

Required profile

• 2 years of technical school or military training in electronics, or equivalent experience with 4 years in broadcast operations
• SBE certification or FCC General Class license preferred
• Valid state driver's license and good driving record
• Ability to climb ladders, work in small spaces and lift 50 pounds
• Availability to work nights and weekends, and 24/7 on-call readiness
