Restaurant Runner

About the role

The Restaurant Runner at Proof on Main delivers food to restaurant patrons. As the last staff member to see a meal before it reaches the customer, the Runner must know what each dish should look like so nothing is missed. The position reports to the Restaurant Manager and may include other essential duties as required.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver food from the kitchen to dining room tables in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assist servers with table, service station and coffee station preparation, and help clear tables and do side work.
• Communicate between kitchen and servers about the status of each table and food delivery.
• Polish silverware and complete all sidework outlined in the manual.
• Maintain a clean, orderly service area and follow sanitation guidelines.
• Keep a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests.
• Know menu descriptions for the bar and dining room and assist the supervisor and chef with assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Responsible, dependable and punctual.
• Clean and professional appearance.
• Enthusiasm for 21c.
• Must pass a background check.
• Physical ability to carry a full-service tray, stand and walk for long periods, and lift at least 50 pounds.

Required skills

• Strong communication skills; must speak, read and understand English.
• Knowledge of menu descriptions for the bar and dining room.
