About the role

The Research Student II position in the Fawzi Lab at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus offers a structured, hands‑on learning experience for recent graduates. You will support NIH‑funded projects on age‑related macular degeneration and ischemic retinal diseases while developing core laboratory techniques.

Key responsibilities

Collect, process, and prepare tissue samples for cryosectioning and immunohistological labeling.
Perform molecular and biochemical assays such as PCR, quantitative PCR, immunostaining, and Western blotting.
Record and analyze experimental data, and assist with basic clinical procedures as needed.

Required profile

Undergraduate degree; currently enrolled in a medical, MA/MS, or other graduate program (excluding PhD candidates).
Previous laboratory experience in a science or healthcare‑related field is preferred.

Required skills

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and quantitative PCR (qPCR).
Immunostaining and Western blotting techniques.
Tissue handling, cryosectioning, and basic molecular biology methods.
