About the role

Bosch’s Computational Materials Science team in Watertown is seeking a Research Engineer to advance atomistic and mesoscale simulations that drive next‑generation Bosch products. You will work at the intersection of quantum‑mechanical, classical, and AI‑based methods to accelerate material discovery for sensors, electrochemistry, energy conversion, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct applied research in computational materials science at the atomistic level.
• Develop and execute classical and electronic structure simulations, integrating emerging AI and machine‑learning techniques.
• Translate simulation results into quantitative models that support engineering development cycles and experimental campaigns.
• Collaborate closely with product development teams to ensure simulation insights are aligned with real‑world product requirements.
• Publish findings and contribute to internal knowledge bases.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent experience in materials science, physics, chemistry, or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proven ability to solve complex scientific problems.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary research environments and communicating results to engineering teams.

Required skills

• Atomistic simulation techniques (classical and quantum‑mechanical).
• Machine‑learning and AI methods applied to materials modeling.
• Proficiency with simulation software and scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar).
