Research Associate 1 – Division of Infectious Diseases

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Medicine seeks a full‑time Research Associate 1 to support laboratory‑based infectious‑disease research within the SOM Division. The incumbent will conduct experiments, manage specimens, and contribute to data analysis and publication efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and follow research protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Collect, prepare, dissect, and evaluate tissue cultures and other specimens.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Perform routine assays, tests, and statistical analyses of results.
• Document findings, ensure compliance with good research practice, and assist in manuscript preparation.
• Recruit and consent study participants, schedule visits, and maintain accurate source documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• No prior professional experience required; willingness to learn and develop expertise.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to ethical research standards.
