Remote Program Architect

About the role

UnitedHealth Group is hiring a Program Architect to give strategic guidance to program and product leadership on technology integration, cloud computing, process improvement, technology innovation and implementation. The role works with client executives and stakeholders and offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., though Minneapolis and Washington, D.C. hires must work in the office at least four days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Principal, Solution, Technical and Enterprise Architects on product delivery and technology selection
• Own solution intent, architectural integrity and lifecycle continuity from pre-award through implementation, production and sustainment
• Keep solution architecture aligned with contracts, standards, design patterns, security expectations and roadmaps, and balance architecture against price-to-win scenarios
• Advise senior leadership on capital technology investments and the strategic technology roadmap
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, models and views, and mentor business partners on technology landscape, costs and risks
• Define technical direction for proposals and strategic pursuits, write proposal content and assess alternatives
• Work with Information Security to ensure solutions meet security frameworks and controls
• Support marketing materials such as whitepapers and slicks, and develop IT-based solutions with the CTO office

Required profile

• 4+ years of solutioning experience in legacy and modern software development lifecycle and services delivery
• 2+ years responding to technical Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
• Experience driving technical direction of proposals and analyzing alternatives
• Ability to travel up to 15%
• United States citizenship; a security clearance (Confidential/Secret or Top Secret) is required after hire

Preferred qualifications

• 6+ years as a Program Architect
• Experience with DoD, HHS, NIH, VA, NOAA, NIST, DoJ, Treasury or similar national government organizations
• Strong communication and customer service skills
