Registered Nurse – Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)

About the role

The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus provides high‑acuity, evidence‑based care for patients undergoing major surgery or experiencing complex post‑operative complications. The RN will work a day/night rotation, supporting critical recovery phases and ensuring patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and implement patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions, updating plans to achieve expected outcomes.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to nursing protocols.
• Execute physician and nursing orders, assess discharge needs, and educate patients and families.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) with current state RN licensure.
• Minimum one year of acute care RN experience (military RN experience considered).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for critical care areas.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Valid RN license in the state of Ohio.
