Registered Nurse – Surgery Oncology Clinic

About the role

The RN in the Surgery Oncology Clinic provides patient care using the Nursing Process, adhering to the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code, and Ochsner’s nursing philosophy. The role involves delegating, directing, and assisting team members while ensuring quality outcomes and cultural sensitivity.

Key responsibilities

• Effectively uses the Nursing Process to deliver patient care.
• Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary groups.
• Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources, serving as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Utilizes data and knowledge to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
• Embraces concepts that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and professional nursing improvement.
• Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensures compliance.

Required profile

• Education: Registered Nurse Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: Proven ability to handle confidential information and work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision; leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; specialty certification preferred.
