Registered Nurse PRN - Hematology/Oncology

About the role

Messino Cancer Centers is hiring a PRN Registered Nurse to provide safe, accurate and efficient patient care in a hematology/oncology setting. The nurse follows the Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) for the role and works at any company location on an as-needed basis, with occasional overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, review labs and vital signs, verify doses and administer medications safely, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care and non-oncologic agents per provider orders and ONS standards
• Provide triage care and communicate patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team
• Dispose of biohazardous waste correctly per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and treatment plans, and document treatments accurately and timely in the EMR
• Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, pharmacies and physicians, and assist with inventory and restocking of medical supplies
• Complete annual safety and nursing trainings, attend mandatory staff meetings, mentor new hires and comply with patient privacy and company policies

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license
• Current CPR and BLS certification and a valid driver's license
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
• Fluent English with excellent oral and written communication
• Willingness to travel between clinic locations and work weekends when needed
