Registered Nurse - Part Time (Hematology/Oncology)

About the role

Messino Cancer Centers is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse to provide safe, accurate and efficient patient care in a hematology/oncology setting. The nurse follows the Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) for the role, works Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and may occasionally work overtime or weekend shifts depending on location hours and operational needs. Travel to other clinic locations is expected less than 25% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, review labs and vital signs, verify doses and administer medications safely, and give triage care when needed
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care and non-oncologic agents per provider orders, using ONS standards and guidelines
• Dispose of biohazardous waste correctly per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and the planned treatment course
• Document treatment thoroughly, accurately and timely in the EMR, capture appropriate charges and identify patients correctly per JBI
• Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, pharmacies and physicians, and respond within the right timeframe
• Help with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, complete annual safety and nursing trainings, attend mandatory staff meetings and assist in training new employees
• Work at any company location as needed and comply with patient privacy, safety and company policies

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license
• Current CPR and BLS certifications and a valid driver's license
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
• Fluency in English and strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to work independently with limited supervision
