Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Telemetry, Full-time

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Registered Nurse to provide patient‑family centered care on a Medical‑Surgical Telemetry unit. The RN will deliver culturally competent, evidence‑based care while supervising nurses and allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Consult with physicians and other professionals to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Perform appropriate patient tests, safely administer medications, and keep accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team while complying with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Assist with discharge planning, transition of care, and prioritize assignments to achieve superior patient outcomes.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, offering feedback and guidance.
• Adhere to university and unit policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN holders must complete BSN within 2 years).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
