Registered Nurse – Internal Medicine/Med Surg (12‑week assignment)

About the role

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a 12‑week assignment on the Internal Medicine/Med‑Surg unit at Kings Hwy in Shreveport. The RN will lead patient care delivery, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, and uphold Ochsner’s nursing standards and quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while ensuring quality outcomes.
• Educate patients, families, and staff on care plans and health information.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal clinical results.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation regulations.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for patient diversity.
• Participate in unit strategic initiatives and quality‑improvement projects.
• Document care accurately in electronic health records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong verbal and written communication and good judgment.
• Ability to adapt communication style to diverse patient populations.
• Commitment to professional responsibility and accountability.
• Willingness to work in a fast‑paced inpatient environment.
