Registered Nurse - Hematology/Oncology

About the role

Cancer & Blood Specialists of Arizona is hiring a Registered Nurse to provide safe, accurate and efficient patient care in a hematology/oncology setting. The nurse follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) for the role and works in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, review labs and vital signs, verify doses and administer medications safely, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care and non-oncologic agents per provider orders and ONS standards
• Provide triage care and telephone triage, prioritizing calls from patients, families, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies and physicians
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and the planned treatment course
• Document treatment thoroughly, accurately and timely in the EMR, capture appropriate charges and follow proper patient identification
• Dispose of biohazardous waste safely per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
• Assist with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, complete annual safety and nursing trainings and attend mandatory staff meetings
• Help train new employees, respect patient and employee confidentiality and comply with federal and state laws and company policies

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license
• Current CPR and BLS certifications and a valid driver's license
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
• Fluency in English and excellent oral and written communication
• Willingness to work at any company location as needed and to work overtime when given sufficient notice
