Registered Nurse – Emergency Medicine (Kings Hwy)

About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide direct emergency department care at the Kings Hwy location, applying the Nursing Process and adhering to Ochsner’s standards of practice. The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes while respecting cultural diversity.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process to deliver comprehensive patient care in the emergency setting.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary groups.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources, serving as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Analyze data and information to promote change and achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensure compliance with Ochsner’s privacy and conduct standards.

Required profile

• Education: Required RN diploma; preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Work experience: No prior experience required.
• Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; preferred clinical specialty certification.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer proficiency for data entry, Windows‑based applications, effective verbal and written communication, strong organization, time‑management, judgement, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency with Windows operating systems and related software.
• Electronic health record (EHR) data entry and retrieval.
