About the role

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab provides direct patient care across Baptist, Clearview, and Jeff Hwy campuses. This role follows the nursing process, adheres to the Nurse Practice Act, and supports Ochsner's mission to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
• Assess patient learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources, acting as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Use data and evidence‑based knowledge to evaluate outcomes and promote practice improvements.
• Adapt interactions to respect patient privacy, cultural diversity, and individual preferences.
• Perform additional related duties as required to support unit and departmental goals.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Good organizational, time‑management, and judgment abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification in a clinical specialty area (preferred).
