Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health Inpatient Child Unit

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) Child Diagnostic Unit provides direct nursing care to children in an inpatient setting, works within an interdisciplinary team, and reports to the Clinical Services Manager. The RN also leads nursing staff, integrates evidence‑based practice, and completes required conflict‑management training.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to children in the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) Child Diagnostic Unit.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and report to the Clinical Services Manager.
• Offer feedback and integrate evidence‑based practice into patient care.
• Lead nursing staff to maintain patient‑care standards and delegate tasks according to UAMS policies.
• Act as a resource for colleagues, participate in recruitment and retention activities, and serve on unit committees.
• Develop and implement nursing practice standards that comply with ANA guidelines.
• Maintain clinical competencies and complete required conflict‑management training within six months of hire.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate, Diploma, BSN, or MSN).
• At least one year of RN experience; two or more years preferred.
• Current, valid Arkansas RN license.
• Excellent communication, strong work ethic, and basic computer proficiency.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
