Registered Nurse 3 – Charge Specialty (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Registered Nurse 3 to serve as a Charge Specialty Nurse on a full‑time basis. This role provides patient‑centered, culturally competent care while leading the unit in quality, safety, and service excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Complete patient assessments, document interactions, and make referrals as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments, maintaining accurate records per regulations.
• Reassess interventions, evaluate diagnoses, and adjust care plans based on patient status.
• Communicate care plans clearly to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Participate in policy, procedure, and protocol development and ensure best‑practice compliance.
• Serve on committees, task forces, and act as a preceptor for students and new staff.
• Initiate discharge planning at admission and involve the patient support network.
• Function as Charge Nurse or Resource Nurse when required and lead unit‑level improvement projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant nursing experience.
