Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty Neurosurgery Stepdown

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a Registered Nurse 2 to provide specialized care in the Neurosurgery Stepdown unit. This full‑time, onsite position involves direct patient care, collaboration with physicians, and mentorship of new staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and operate medical equipment.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods, and health‑safety guidelines.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in medical documentation and medication administration.
