Registered Dietitian – Digestive Disease & Surgery Institute

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Digestive Disease & Surgery Institute (DDSI) seeks a Registered Dietitian to provide individualized medical nutrition therapy, education, and counseling to patients across the main campus hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement personalized nutrition care plans, document interventions, and maintain follow‑up systems.
• Assess patients for nutritional deficiencies, evaluate fluid and electrolyte status, and communicate findings to physicians.
• Write and modify diet orders, conduct nutrient intake assessments, and review laboratory and clinical progress notes.
• Create and update patient education materials, participate in program development, and support marketing of nutrition services.
• Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns and deliver classroom instruction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics or a related field.
• Current state licensure and active Registered Dietitian (RD) certification.
• At least one year of clinical nutrition experience (or completion of a dietetic internship).
• Ability to navigate the hospital, measure and weigh patients, and use standard PPE.

Required skills

• Medical nutrition therapy and diet order modification.
• Patient assessment for nutritional deficiencies, fluids, and electrolytes.
• Documentation and communication of nutrition plans to multidisciplinary teams.
