Regional Controller – Construction Finance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Regional Controller to lead financial operations for a construction client in Fort Worth, Texas. The role focuses on accurate reporting, strengthening controls, and delivering insights that drive profitability and strategic decision‑making across multiple project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the monthly close process, review journal entries, validate results, and investigate significant variances.
• Manage core accounting for construction projects, including revenue recognition, work‑in‑progress tracking, job costing, and balance‑sheet reconciliation.
• Establish and maintain control procedures to ensure audit readiness and policy compliance.
• Partner with operational and executive leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Provide guidance on margin performance, cash management, and overall financial health.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, promoting standardized practices.
• Oversee receivables, payables, cash flow, and working‑capital management.
• Support growth initiatives by integrating newly acquired entities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a controller‑level leadership role.
• Experience supporting multiple locations, preferably in construction or other project‑based environments.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, month‑end close, job‑cost accounting, percentage‑of‑completion accounting, and work‑in‑progress reporting.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP financial systems.
• Expertise in GAAP and financial reporting.
• Hands‑on knowledge of job‑cost accounting and percentage‑of‑completion methods.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings to leadership.
