Recreation Facilities Supervisor

About the role

The Recreation Facilities Supervisor oversees daily operations of St. Olaf College’s campus recreation and athletic facilities during assigned shifts. This part‑time position ensures a safe, welcoming environment for patrons and supports smooth facility functionality throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support Recreation Attendants, providing real‑time feedback and direction.
• Serve as primary responder to incidents and emergencies, coordinating care and completing incident reports.
• Enforce facility policies and procedures consistently and professionally.
• Manage opening, closing, and shift transitions, including routine walkthroughs for safety, cleanliness, and equipment condition.
• Address patron concerns, conflicts, and escalated situations with sound judgment.
• Support special events, programs, and reservations within the facility.
• Communicate updates and issues to professional staff promptly.
• Assist with staff training, onboarding, and ongoing development.

Required profile

• High school diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• At least two years of experience in recreation, athletics, or a related environment (preferred).
• Demonstrated leadership ability and strong interpersonal, communication, and customer‑service skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Willingness to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification if not already held.

Required skills

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

What we offer

• Hourly rate of $20.25.
• Part‑time schedule (10‑month academic year, mid‑August through mid‑June) with occasional summer shifts.
