Public Safety Officer – Night Shift

About the role

St. Olaf College is seeking a dedicated Public Safety Officer to work the night shift on campus. The role involves protecting students, staff, and property while responding to emergencies and maintaining a safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain security of academic and residence hall buildings and respond to reported incidents.
• Handle medical, property, criminal, and fire emergencies, including contacting off‑campus resources.
• Conduct initial investigations of criminal incidents, accidents, and intrusions; complete detailed incident reports.
• Patrol campus grounds, parking lots, and monitor alarms to deter and detect unlawful behavior.
• Enforce parking regulations, issue citations, and document motor vehicle accidents.
• Provide transportation to the Northfield Emergency Department and for personal safety reasons.
• Assist college departments, local, state, and federal law‑enforcement agencies as needed.
• Participate in court proceedings when requested and support student employee supervisors.

Required profile

• Ability to work a rotating night‑shift schedule (9 PM – 7 AM) with occasional overtime.
• Calm demeanor under stress and in emergency situations.
