About the role
The Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary‑General for Children and Armed Conflict (SRSG‑CAAC) is seeking a Public Information Intern to support its communications and advocacy work. This unpaid, full‑time internship (35 hours/week) runs for six months, starting in October 2026, and can be performed on‑site in New York or remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in building awareness for SRSG‑CAAC advocacy among Member States, donors, media and policy communities.
- Conduct media monitoring and analysis; draft and edit content for print, web, multimedia, events and publications.
- Update the Office’s website and social‑media channels.
- Support the organization of UN special events related to children and armed conflict.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising staff member.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s programme.
- Computer literate with standard software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams).
- Experience with content‑management systems (WordPress or Drupal) and design tools such as Canva.
- Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
