About the role
The Public Information Intern will support the Non‑Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS) within the Department of Global Communications. Working in the NGO Relations, Outreach Division, the intern will help connect the United Nations with civil society organizations and assist in disseminating information about UN activities.
Key responsibilities
- Screen and review registration applications for high‑level events supported by NGLS.
- Analyze registration data and produce statistical reports.
- Create infographics, social‑media cards, video content, event flyers and RSVP forms.
- Compile CSO submissions for the Civil Society newsletter.
- Monitor the generic office email inbox and respond to inquiries.
- Assist with event planning, logistics, and the NGLS annual report.
- Provide technical support and take minutes during meetings.
- Perform other duties as required by the Programme Manager and Communications Officer.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final academic year of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
- Field of study closely related to communications, public information, or international affairs.
- No prior professional experience required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams.
What we offer
- Unpaid, full‑time internship for six months (35 hours per week).
- On‑site work in New York with the possibility of flexible arrangements.
- Supervision and mentorship from the NGLS Programme Manager and Civil Society Communications Officer.
- Hands‑on experience in UN‑civil society engagement and public information outreach.
