Psychologist – Muscogee YDC (Columbus, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a licensed psychologist to provide comprehensive mental health services at the Muscogee Youth Development Center in Columbus, GA. The role involves assessment, treatment, supervision, and quality assurance for youth in a secure juvenile setting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and document diagnostic evaluations, integrating record reviews, interviews, and psychometric measures to develop treatment plans.
• Provide clinical supervision to mental‑health staff, including scheduled sessions, on‑call support, and documentation of supervision activities.
• Evaluate and monitor mental‑health services for compliance with DJJ policy, conduct audits of suicide‑prevention plans, and lead quality‑assurance initiatives.
• Deliver direct clinical treatment to youth using individual, group, or family modalities and respond to crisis situations.
• Offer clinical education, consultation, and leadership, including development of special management plans for high‑risk youth and training for institutional staff.

Required profile

• Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA‑accredited program.
• Current Georgia license to practice psychology (temporary, provisional, or permanent).
• Preferred: licensure with the Georgia State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
• Experience working with adolescents in residential or secure juvenile‑justice settings.
• Experience providing clinical supervision to mental‑health staff.
• Training or experience in trauma‑informed treatment approaches.
