Protocol Engineer (Smart Contracts & Oracles)

About the role

Daylight is building a decentralized energy protocol that tokenizes solar and storage assets. As a Protocol Engineer you will own the design and implementation of the core smart contracts and backend systems that connect real‑world energy hardware to on‑chain finance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and audit Solidity smart contracts for energy markets, staking, token issuance and rewards.
• Lead architecture decisions for EVM‑based systems on mainnet and Layer‑2 networks.
• Manage cross‑chain deployments and integrations using LayerZero, Wormhole or similar interoperability solutions.
• Architect secure off‑chain data pipelines and oracle integrations (Chainlink, Chronicle, custom solutions) to feed real‑time energy data on‑chain.
• Collaborate with the backend team to build Python/Django APIs that interact with contracts and external services.

Required profile

• Proven experience building production‑grade DeFi protocols, especially stablecoins, lending or reward mechanisms.
• Deep knowledge of Solidity, EVM, and smart‑contract security best practices.
• Hands‑on experience with cross‑chain technologies such as LayerZero or Wormhole.
• Ability to design trust‑minimized oracle architectures and handle off‑chain data integration.
• Comfortable contributing to Python/Django backend code when needed.
