Propulsion Test Software Engineer

About the role

Moog’s Space and Defense Group is expanding its test engineering capabilities at the Niagara Falls, NY site. As a Propulsion Test Software Engineer you will develop and maintain software that supports hot‑fire testing, data acquisition, and analysis for rocket engines and propulsion systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain software for hot‑fire data setup, reduction, and analysis.
• Maintain and upgrade LabVIEW‑based data acquisition systems, including hardware components.
• Develop new data acquisition solutions as needed.
• Collaborate with project, product, and test engineering teams to monitor and trend test data.
• Provide technical support to instrumentation technicians for setup and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Software, Computer, Electrical, or related).
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in software development and test engineering.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.
• Successful completion of a full physical examination, including blood work and pulmonary function testing.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented programming in C++, C#, and Python.
• UI/UX design for engineering and technician interfaces.
• Experience with LabVIEW for data acquisition and control.
• Familiarity with JIRA or similar project‑tracking tools.
• Source‑code control using GitHub, TortoiseSVN, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation such as pressure transducers, load cells, flow meters, and temperature sensors.
