Project Accountant

About the role

FXCollaborative is seeking a Project Accountant with strong A/E industry experience to join its finance team in Brooklyn. The role will manage all aspects of project accounting and billing across a diverse portfolio of architectural and design projects.

Key responsibilities

• Set up new projects in Deltek, entering billing terms, rate tables, budgets and cost structures.
• Prepare and issue monthly invoices, manage progress billing, retainage and change orders for complex agency contracts.
• Track and allocate project costs, ensure accurate revenue recognition and maintain up‑to‑date budgets.
• Record cash receipts, manage accounts receivable, resolve billing discrepancies and follow up on overdue payments.
• Review and process sub‑consultant invoices, coordinate payments and maintain consultant relationships.
• Produce monthly financial reports, cash‑flow projections and budget‑vs‑actual analyses for project managers and senior leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in project accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
• Project accounting experience in architecture, interior design or engineering firms.
• Proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint and strong Microsoft Office/Outlook skills.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication abilities.
