About the role
The Program Specialist II-2 will lead a statewide Extension program focused on feral hog biology, ecology, damage assessment, population management and control, providing education and technical support to landowners, producers and wildlife professionals across Texas.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate a comprehensive Extension program on feral hog management.
- Design and deliver workshops, field days, webinars, seminars and other educational events for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with researchers, Extension specialists and stakeholders to design applied research projects, collect and analyze data, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Produce Extension publications, fact sheets, technical reports and digital content for websites, newsletters and social media platforms.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with landowners, agencies (e.g., Texas Parks and Wildlife, USDA Wildlife Services) and other organizations involved in feral hog management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in wildlife science, natural resources, agriculture, biology, ecology or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in wildlife management, natural resource management, agricultural production or wildlife damage management.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Texas and work evenings, weekends or extended hours as needed for educational events and field activities.
Required skills
- Remote Pilot Certificate
- Quantitative data analysis
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
- Database management and online communication tools
- Experience creating digital content for websites, social media, videos or webinars
