About the role

The Professional Counselor III joins the Counseling Center at East Texas A&M University to deliver comprehensive mental‑health services that support student personal and academic success. This position works directly with a diverse student body, fostering a healthy campus environment through evidence‑based interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Develop and implement preventative and therapeutic programs that promote mental‑well‑being.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community resources to address student needs.
• Maintain accurate case documentation and adhere to university confidentiality policies.
• Participate in outreach, workshops, and training initiatives to enhance campus mental‑health awareness.

Required profile

• Commitment to a developmental counseling model.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a culturally diverse student population.
• Professional licensure or eligibility for licensure in Texas (or equivalent).
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
