Production Technician – Third Shift

About the role
The production technician is an integral part of the CFS team, performing and monitoring manufacturing processes to build and test superconducting magnets. You will work in a fast‑paced, exciting environment helping meet the global need for clean energy.
Key responsibilities
- Build a variety of electromechanical parts and assemblies.
- Develop and qualify new manufacturing techniques and processes within a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Perform production builds according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Use precision tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions.
- Communicate challenges and ideas effectively to peers and leadership.
- Operate production, testing, and high‑powered magnet equipment.
- Identify product problems and recommend process improvements.
Required profile
- High school diploma/equivalency or higher.
- Minimum 6 years experience with hand tools and in mechanical or electrical assembly.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform extended periods of standing, stooping, or sitting.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, on‑call, and occasional travel.
Required skills
- Proficiency with hand tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
- Mechanical and electrical assembly expertise.
- PLC experience.
- Material processing and cryogenic handling (LN₂, Helium).
- Reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Epoxy potting or injection molding.
- Plumbing, vacuum systems, and soldering.
- Harness building and wiring.
