Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift

About the role

Saputo is hiring a Production Supervisor for its 3rd shift in Franklin, Wisconsin, to supervise production employees at a new 340,000-square-foot conversion facility opening in 2023. The supervisor plans, assigns and directs work, resolves product and employee concerns and works in line with company policy, OSHA regulations and applicable laws.

Key responsibilities

• Work with plant management and supervisors to assign, direct, review and monitor staff work to maximize productivity
• Ensure procedures are in place for production efficiency, product quality, employee safety and state/federal guidelines
• Inspect products against specifications and direct machine setups and adjustments
• Coordinate production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements
• Anticipate production volume changes, adjust work procedures and assign daily duties
• Enter production data into the ERP system, including results, volume, OEE and downtime by product and order
• Review production, packaging, cleaning, sanitation, schedule, accident and investigation records
• Train employees on jobs, safety and equipment standards, and coach and evaluate performance
• Analyze problems using CI methods, recommend improvements and maintain time and production records
• Collaborate across departments, support progressive discipline with HR, promote safety programs and uphold company policies

Required profile

• Preferred: one to three years of supervisory experience in a food packaging environment
• Minimum: Associate's degree in Operations Management or equivalent experience
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Good organizational skills, prioritization and attention to detail
• Strong team player and leader able to work across functions
• Ability to select, lead, coach, motivate and retain a team
• Understanding of cost containment and budgetary principles
• Flexible hours, including weekends, and ability to work in a noisy, variable temperature manufacturing environment
• Physical lifting up to 40 lbs unassisted frequently

Required skills

• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices
• Experience with safety and security policies and procedures
• Proficiency with ERP solutions; SAP preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication
