Production Operator - Roofing Manufacturing

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is looking for Production Operators for its Hagerstown plant. The plant runs two side-by-side assembly lines for TPO and ISO commercial roofing products made with modern equipment in a clean, safe facility. The operator reports to the Production Supervisor and runs the production line.

Key responsibilities

• Run the production line by operating machinery and feeding raw materials through the process
• Resolve line stoppages and clear equipment jams
• Verify finished products against quality specifications and prepare them for shipment
• Operate manufacturing equipment according to standard work instructions and follow safety policies
• Inspect raw materials and finished goods and carry out regular quality checks
• Work with the production team to meet goals and objectives
• Operate a counterbalance, propane-powered forklift and enter waste and downtime data
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff

Required profile

• Able to work a 10 or 12-hour rotating shift (days and nights), including some future weekends
• Preferred: at least 2 years' experience in heavy-industrial manufacturing or construction
• Preferred: at least 1 year of proven forklift operating experience
• Comfortable in a dusty environment, standing for long periods, walking or standing 90% of the shift, and performing heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
• Fluent in verbal and written English, good communication skills, and ability to follow detailed instructions
