Production Operator - Roofing Manufacturing

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is looking for Production Operators for its Hagerstown plant. The plant runs two side-by-side assembly lines for TPO and ISO commercial roofing products made with modern equipment in a clean, safe facility. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the operator runs the production line, from feeding raw materials to preparing finished goods for shipment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing equipment according to standard work instructions
• Follow safety policies, programs and procedures
• Inspect raw materials and finished products against quality specifications and run quality checks at regular intervals
• Feed raw materials properly through the process, resolve line stoppages and clear equipment jams
• Verify finished products against quality specs and prepare them for shipment
• Work with the production team to meet goals and objectives
• Operate a counterbalance, propane-powered forklift and enter waste and downtime data into the system
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff

Required profile

• Able to work a 10 or 12-hour rotating shift (days and nights), including some future weekends
• Preferred: minimum 2 years' experience in heavy-industrial manufacturing or construction
• Preferred: at least 1 year of proven forklift operating experience
• Comfortable in a dusty environment, standing for long periods, walking or standing 90% of the shift, and performing heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
• Fluent in verbal and written English, good communication skills, and able to follow detailed instructions
