Product Manager – Payroll Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking an entrepreneurial Product Manager to lead the discovery and definition of key components of our payroll infrastructure. You will help build a powerful, resilient system that simplifies payroll for thousands of employers and enables our partners to scale their businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Define and prioritize projects that enhance the power and resilience of our payroll infrastructure as we scale.
• Lead product execution with a bold, opinionated approach, pushing the boundaries of payroll solutions while addressing customer challenges with urgency.
• Engage with cross‑functional experts from business, engineering, and payroll operations to align on strategic goals.
• Connect directly with Check’s partners—software companies across diverse verticals—to understand their daily challenges and identify opportunities for scaling.
• Develop a comprehensive roadmap in partnership with engineering and operations, outlining actionable strategies to build the infrastructure partners need.

Required profile

• 6+ years of product management experience in technology companies serving enterprise customers.
• Experience in complex domains with intricate regulatory and operational requirements; payroll or tax knowledge is a plus.
• Proven track record of leading cross‑functional product initiatives that deliver significant business impact.
• Ability to thrive in high‑ambiguity environments, demonstrating adaptability and strong problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to attend the annual 3‑day company offsite in the fall.
