Probation Officer I – Fulton MSC & HITS (East Point, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Probation Officer I to provide supervision, counseling, and investigative support for adult and juvenile probationers and parolees in the Fulton MSC & HITS region.

Key responsibilities

• Assist offenders in developing life‑adjustment plans and provide ongoing counseling through office visits, employment checks, phone calls, and community contacts.
• Inform clients of conditional‑release requirements such as restitution, education, and employment obligations.
• Investigate client backgrounds, court files, police reports, and other records to assess reintegration progress.
• Conduct surveillance, monitor compliance, and, when necessary, perform arrests of violators.
• Prepare detailed progress reports and other required paperwork within established timelines.
• Testify in court regarding sentencing, violations, and other matters related to clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within six months of hire.
• Physical ability to meet agency‑established agility standards and pass required assessments.
