Principal Systems Engineer

About the role

Red 6 is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration, and verification of the Airborne Tactical Augmented Reality System (ATARS) throughout its product lifecycle. The role involves requirements development, architecture definition, interface management, and supporting the next‑generation ATARS design.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional teams in Systems Engineering, Configuration Management, and Integration & Test.
• Develop, decompose, and manage system and subsystem requirements using approved tools.
• Maintain the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Support design milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, SVR) and apply MBSE (SysML) methodologies.
• Conduct trade studies, allocate weight/power resources, and oversee integration and verification in lab and aircraft environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in systems, aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering or related STEM field.
• 12+ years experience in aerospace, defense, or mission‑critical system development.
• Proven experience across the full systems development lifecycle and with formal design milestone reviews.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Required skills

• Requirements management tools (development, decomposition, tracing, verification).
• Authoring and reviewing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and related artifacts.
• Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody).
• Trade study and technical analysis capabilities.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD documentation standards and defense acquisition processes.
